- Waimana is a large timber workboat, believed to have been constructed in the 1940s by Peter Voss’s shipyard in Auckland. She features a sweeping sheer, a rounded wineglass stern, and traditional carvel-planked hull with heavy laminated framing.
- Waimana is presently resting in a custom-fabricated steel cradle. This cradle was designed specifically to support the vessel both in storage and during transport.
- The hull has suffered damage and is partially stripped. Much of the deck has been removed, the interior is completely gutted, and there is no engine or machinery aboard. Only one internal bulkhead remains.
- She is planked in what is believed to be 38 mm kauri over doubled laminated ribs. The keel is solid timber. The deck was framed with 100x50 mm planks over cambered beams.
- The length overall is approx. 14.9m, keel length is 13.2m. Maximum beam at deck height is approx. 4.3m. From base of the keel to the deck, the depth measures around 2.55m.
- Overall height from ground to deck top is approximately 4.05 metres. The total estimated weight of the hull is around 60 tonnes.
- No formal engineering report, recent survey, or registration paperwork is available. An inspection is recommended.
