Notable Moves

Brittons Housemovers have moved many houses and buildings. Some of these buildings are landmarks and have attracted media attention by nature of their heritage and the size and difficulty of the move.

St. Josephs Chapel

This 1907 church was moved in Wanganui from its original site to its current site at Cullinane College.

Rudolf Steiner School
(page loads slowly, lots of pictures)

This move required cutting a school building, in Petone, into 8 pieces, moving them up to a hillside site and recombining them again to provide a building that now houses the school's Gym (doubles as the theatre), art room  and Science laboratory.

Greta Point Tavern

A popular Wellington "watering hole" in the 90s, this building has been moved to the north side of Queen's Wharf where it will again be developed into a restaurant and bar complex. When it was built, the late 19th century building was the biggest wooden, steel-framed building in New Zealand.
