Motorists driving around Wellington's Greta Point faced a new hazard early morning - a restaurant in the middle of the road. By midday, the former Salt At The Greta was at the Patent Slip waiting to travel by barge to North Queens Wharf.
The building was rescued from demolition to make way for a townhouse development.

The Salt building, a former Union Steamship Company linen store and laundry, was the only building of its type left on Wellington's waterfront and was to be saved for its heritage value.
The late 19th century building was the biggest wooden steel framed building in New Zealand when it was built. It was later used for general engineering works and reopened as the Greta Point Tavern in 1981.
